Nov 30, 2020 10:49 AM

They sit one game back of the current seventh seed in the conference, the Arizona Cardinals.

Tua Tagovailoa Still Dolphins Quarterback 'If He's Healthy'

Nov 30, 2020 9:00 AM

The Miami Dolphins have played it safe with Tua Tagovailoa and his injured thumb, but Brian Flores says the rookie remains the team's starting quarterback "if he's healthy."

Ryan Fitzpatrick started in Sunday's 20-3 win over the New York Jets.

"Yeah, if he's healthy, he's the guy," Flores said of Tagovailoa. "I don't know how many different ways we have to continue to say that. You keep asking, I'll keep answering the same way. Again, he's dealing with something with the hand. We'll take it day-to-day. He's a tough kid. He wants to be out there. Thankfully, we have other guys who stepped up. We can talk about Tua, but we had 52 other guys who went out there and played their butts off today in all three phases. We were able to get a division win on the road. We're excited to win. We'll enjoy the win and then turn the page and move on to the next opponent, the Bengals."

Kyle Shanahan Upset Over Suddenness Of County Ban

Nov 30, 2020 10:48 AM

The San Francisco 49ers found out when the rest of the world did that they won't be able to play in Santa Clara County for the next three weeks.

The county held a news conference on Saturday while the 49ers were on a plane headed to face the Los Angeles Rams.

"For us to be heading out here [Saturday] and the relationship we have with them and for our players and coaches and everyone on that plane and our wives to find that out while we're getting on a plane and no one to tell us, it was just extremely disappointing," Kyle Shanahan said of the announcement. "I get it: They made that decision, and we've got to deal with it, but to find that out through a tweet or a press conference, where I have an entire plane coming up to me, I have all wives, everyone's girlfriends, everyone's family members, kids, saying they heard we could be gone for the entire month of December? Are we going to be quarantined for 14 days when we get back?

"That's all we could talk about for the last 18 hours because we got no answers from them. I was just very disappointed."

That curveball left the 49ers spending most of their time in Los Angeles thinking and talking about where they will be for the bulk of December.

Sean McVay: Jared Goff's Turnover Trend 'Can't Continue'

Nov 30, 2020 8:47 AM

Sean McVay didn't mince words after the Los Angeles Rams' 23-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.

"Our quarterback has got to take better care of the football," McVay said of Jared Goff.

Goff had three turnovers against the 49ers in what has become a growing trend.

"We're not taking good enough care of the football and that's something that's got to change, otherwise I'm going to continue to sit up here and say this week in and week out," McVay said. "It just can't continue to happen."

Goff has had three games with multiple turnovers since Week 8.

Jaguars Fire Dave Caldwell

Nov 29, 2020 9:48 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired Dave Caldwell as general manager after the team's 10th straight loss.

The Jaguars have now lost at least 10 games in three straight seasons after reaching the AFC Championship Game in 2017.

"I've met with Dave Caldwell to express my appreciation for his service to the Jacksonville Jaguars as our general manager," owner Shad Khan said in a statement. "Dave was exceptionally committed and determined to bring a winner to Jacksonville, but unfortunately his efforts were not rewarded with the results our fans deserve and our organization expects. Our football operation needs new leadership, and we will have it with a new general manager in 2021."

Bruce Arians Won't Take Over Offensive Playcalling

Nov 24, 2020 9:00 AM

Bruce Arians said after Monday night's loss to the Los Angeles Rams that he has no plans to take over offensive playcalling for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I thought [Byron Leftwich] called a good ballgame," Arians said. "We just have to execute better. When guys are open, we have to hit them and we can't misread coverage. We have to protect a little bit better when we do have guys deep and let [Tom Brady] hit that guy instead of having that pressure that cost us an interception. As a collective, everybody has got to play better."

The Buccaneers are 7-4 with the Kansas City Chiefs on deck before their Week 13 bye.

Players Now Required To Wear Masks On Sideline

The NFL issued new guidance Monday for its operations amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Players are now required to wear masks on the sideline unless they have their helmet on and are preparing to enter the game.

The new protocols will take effect when Week 12 begins Thursday and are backed by the threat of discipline for failure to comply.

Confirmed positive tests among NFL players and staff have increased alongside the rise in community spread across the country.
